Historical Inspiration:
The word “hieroglyph” comes from the Greek hieros (sacred) and glyphos (words or signs). Ancient Egyptians called them mdju netjer, or “words of the gods.” Hieroglyphic writing dates back to 3400–3200 B.C., with early examples found on bone, ivory, pottery, and clay seals.

During the Ptolemaic period, Greek rulers infused Egyptian culture with new ideas, leading to the creation of complex hieroglyphic codes. The script persisted until A.D. 394, when the Roman Emperor Theodosius ordered pagan temples closed, ending the use of hieroglyphs except on monumental structures. This purse celebrates that rich heritage in a functional and stylish form.
