ASCOT Antique Porcelain Double-Section Platter – Transfer Printed

An elegant and characterful Ascot antique porcelain platter, beautifully decorated in classic blue and white transfer printing. This charming piece features a detailed pastoral scene framed by ornate borders, together with the distinctive Ascot mark depicting double rampant lions guarding a crown. Crafted in the renowned pottery region of Staffordshire, England, the platter is attributed to either Wood & Sons Ltd of Burslem or Ridgway of Hanley, both highly respected historic ceramic manufacturers.

This unusual and practical serving piece features two integrated sections on different levels:

  • A raised section on the left
  • A lower section on the right

The clever design allows you to present two varieties of food at once, making it perfect for serving cakes, cheese, nuts, appetisers, biscuits, dips or other delights. Whether used for entertaining guests or displayed as a decorative antique, this platter offers both function and historic charm. The decoration is produced using traditional Transfer Printing, a celebrated ceramic technique developed in the 18th century which enabled intricate scenes to be applied to pottery with remarkable clarity and detail.
