Chinese Miniature Brushpot

Chinese Miniature Brushpot
Vintage Chinese Famille Rose Miniature Porcelain Brush Pot / Pen Holder with Kangxi Reign Mark

A charming vintage Chinese porcelain miniature brush pot / pen holder, beautifully hand-painted with colourful famille rose-style decoration, featuring floral and figural motifs, scrolling foliage and attractive gilt accents.

The small cylindrical form is consistent with a traditional Chinese brush holder, used on the scholar's desk for holding writing brushes or pens. Its miniature size also makes it an appealing decorative collectible.

The underside bears a four-character red Chinese mark, 康熙年制 (Kangxi Nian Zhi), within a double circular border. This translates approximately as “Made during the Kangxi reign.”

Please note: the presence of a Kangxi reign mark does not, by itself, confirm that the piece dates from the Kangxi period (1662–1722). Later Chinese porcelain was also produced with earlier reign marks. The exact age has not been professionally authenticated.
