SECLA PORTUGAL
Portuguese Porcelain and pottery

Secla Portugal was an artistic pottery workshop established in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal in 1947. The factory benefited from the post-war economic growth in Europe. Most of production was exported to USA and UK.

In 1950s the company opened a pottery studio, where designers experimented with new forms and technologies. Secla employed such artists as Julio Pomar, José Aurélio Hansi Stael, António Quadros, Ian Hird and Ferreira da Silva.

By 1990, seven-hundred (700) people were working for Secla. During the following years, the company struggled hard with challenges of globalization and Asian competition. Because of falling demand, production was finally stopped June 30, 2008.

This is a rare Vintage bowl/serving plate or otherwise, a magnificent display feature that would compliment your kitchen decor.
Quality earthenware fully glazed and handcrafted to perfection in a floral design/pattern.
Inscribed on the underside is the distinctive "Secla Portugal" Mark, being the ‘S’ letter 'within a Jar' with a 'dot' about it.
