Did you know that the ‘White Park Cattle’ originated in the British Isles, with their ancestors spreading across Ireland, Wales, England and Scotland? This rare breed has ancient roots and may even have played a part in old Irish mythology! First records of these predecessors date back to over two thousand years ago!

A breed that matches the ‘White Park’ closely has also played a part in the historic myths of ‘Cruacha’ in the era of ‘Cú Chulainn’. In one of Ireland’s old folklore legends, it’s said that three hundred white cows with ‘coloured’ ears were sacrificed at ‘Magh Aí, in Connacht’. The ‘White Park’ breed was officially recorded in the British Rare Breeds Survival Trust back in 1973.
