Symbolic Meaning of the Rabbit
The rabbit symbol traditionally represents abundance, prosperity and good fortune. It is also associated with fertility, longevity and emotional sensitivity. Those who connect with the rabbit as a totem are believed to possess a natural ability to express their emotions and form meaningful connections with others.

About the Playboy Bunny Symbol
The famous Playboy Bunny logo, created for Playboy Magazine, has an interesting origin story. According to Hugh Hefner, the idea was inspired by Bunny’s Tavern in Urbana, Illinois, USA. The tavern was opened in 1936 by Bernard “Bunny” Fitzsimmons and became a popular meeting place for locals and University of Illinois students, including a young Hugh Hefner during the late 1940s.

Hefner later acknowledged the inspiration for the Playboy Bunny in a letter to Bunny’s Tavern, which remains framed and displayed there today. The original Playboy Bunny costume was created by the mother of Ilse Taurins, a Latvian émigré who was dating Playboy Club co-founder Victor Lownes III. Inspired by the magazine’s rabbit trademark, she created a prototype costume that was reviewed by Hefner, Lownes and Arnold Morton, along with well-known Playboy illustrator LeRoy Neiman.
